Inspired by "Jessica Simpson's Price of Beauty" in the Paris episode, Jessica visits a former model, Isabella Caro, batteling with anorexia. Over the years Isabella has founded an ad campaign, NO ANOREXIA for Nolita, to bring awareness to the extreme measures models go through to be "beautiful."
Watching this episode brought tears to my eyes and left me with a sickening feeling in my stomach. Imagine how many models, woman, young girls battle with this deception of beauty? In today's world we are driven by what we see in the magazines, TV, movies as what our bodies "should" look like. Unfortunetly, according to a study conducted by SELF magazine, 65% of woman suffer from some type of eating disorder in their lifetime. I, myself, was one of them. At a young age I saw my body as a waste, not beautiful, and had my own battle of what was "truly beautiful." Luckily, I was able to pull myself out of a dark hole and shed light on the "true" beauty we each have.
As woman we need to take a stand for ourselves and recognize the beauty that faces us everyday when we look into the mirror. Ignore others opinions, societies "rules" and focus on what makes you the unique and beautiful individual that you are. Reverse your words, instead of " I hate" to " I love" about your body. And if there are areas you want to improve, go for it, but in a healthy way.....Because the "Price of Beauty" should not be so high.
