DAKOTA NAILS CHERRY BOMB AT SUNDANCE

This year at the Sundance film festival it was a collection of snow, movies and cherry bombs!! The Runaways, featuring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, portrays the life story of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie in the all girl band The Runaways. Both performances deserve applause for there over the top sexual drug infested nature. It is noticeable both Stewart and Fanning transformed themselves into life like icons of Jett and Currie. However, for those of you who have watched Fanning grow up on screen, at times it was a little disturbing watching her youth be distorted by sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. You have to question if there was some debate over her taking this roll? Let's face it going from big screen darling to the girl that is telling you " hello world I am your wild girl" is a rough transition. Yet, looking at it from an artistic stand point, Fanning taking over the roll of Currie was a brave step for someone so wholesome. At the same time, Director Floria Sigismondi knows how to tease her audience just right, not allowing Fanning's character to take it too far, but still lingering in the hot spot of the 70's of promiscuity, narcotics and girl power!
